Exercise SHEN was held on Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th February 2018 at Nexen Petroleum Headquarters in Aberdeen and was a test of the UK National Contingency Plan for marine pollution from shipping and offshore installations, including the invocation of the NORBRIT agreement. The exercise also served as triennial SOSREP exercise. The scenario revolved around the release of oil from a sub-surface well head in the North Sea, 30NM from the UK shoreline, and 90NM from the median line.
